Those desert places, or as I call them, places of drought.  They can be interesting, cant they!?!  I dont know if you are there yet Steve, but you know, even though those places where the grass is brown and the branches on the trees are like kindling; where you are thirsty and there seems no water that can fulfill your thirst.....they are a time of deep preperation.  They prepare for the holy fire to flame through! 

Over here in Australia, we see a lot of devistating bush fires, as you know.  They burn through with a ferocity that seems evil to the human eye, and indeed the devistation to humans who have taken it upon themselves to move to such areas does take an amazing toll, BUT...

after the fire has burnt up all the undergrowth that comes up to choke the seedlings, after the vines that have clung to the trees, sapping the life from the tall, proud gums are once again under control, after the dead leaf litter is burned up, after the destruction and death........comes NEW life.  That which is well-rooted and healthy always survives...just a little charred at first. Buds begin to appear, animals start to come back and make new homes.  There are native plants over here that are just sooo beautiful to behold, that can only germinate when hit by a bushfire.  In a matter of a few words.......the unnecessary; that which was holding the new growth back......is done away with and there is new freedom for that growth to begin.

Ok......I know you Steve.  You will say, hey girl, you've got it wrong....it's not THAT bad!  Fine, it isnt at the moment, but one day it will.  Heed your 'other big sister's' words.  When it does come hon, dont fear it........because you will soon appreciate all that is lush and green again.

Anyway, great to hear that you are still alive and still on the Straight and Narrow! Y'know, I had a thought about winding roads - from our perspective the path we're on may seem to be winding, twisting, and curving through the desert, but in God's eyes this road is leading us straight to Him - well, lest I make my comment longer than Narelle's , or longer than your post (I have done that before), I will sign off.

yeah, the weather's been quite nice for that past few weeks.... only last night it went down to the 20s... and of course, we all froze this morning with our "springy" clothes on.  Oh well...

In other news: I'm playing guitar in our Easter thing at church tonight.  It's the first song.... as in the FIRST.... as in the VERY first thing that anyone hears will be me picking out notes (hopefuly the right notes)... and the VERY first note sung will be in my voice.... and the spotlight will be shining down on my glassese causing a glare so that I won't be able to read the notes... and then I'll just have to ad lib the whole entire song!!

...nope, not nervous at all.

It turned out great... I played most  of the right chords, I sang pretty much on key, and I didn't fall off the stool I sitting on.  haha  And of course all the nice church people said we did great! (well, they'd say that even if we sang in 5 different keys at the same time.... which when I think about it would be kind of hard, because it was just my sister and I on that song..... anyway, what was I saying??)

The musical as whole was very well done and God- honoring, I think... I pray that it made an impact on the people that were listening.  I know I was blessed.  I love singing and playing for God... I don't know what I'd do without music...
